Book Texture

 I have quickly completed the texture of a book that I have modeled within Maya. At first I used a lot of brown leather in order to make the different textures and feel on the outside of the book however I felt that it didn't have the right look that I was going for and personally I didn't like it. Due to this I changed the color scheme over to black, overall I think that It looks more dark and deceiving, more like a horror book than a normal worn book which adds a different element to the texture within itself. I used the bevel and emboss glow functions to add the added effects on the details on the front and back of the book to make them stand out against the powerful leather book itself. Overall I like the end product of the book however it is very messy and rushed so I think that I will try to do another texture on the book at a later date when I have gained some more skills in photo shop. Underneath are two images of the book, one in Maya and the other is the texture in photo shop.

 

Crate Textures

 Here are two textures for crates that I have modeled in Maya, at first I had the crates brown I found that it seemed a bit too orange for my liking so I decided to grey out the texture. Once greyed out I then applied the texture to the crate which I then liked and kept it grey rather than brown. I think that if I made the brown texture a little lighter then It would look better when modeled.

Custom Brushes

 The image above shows my custom cloud brush that I have created myself, I have used a soft round brush and have made a variety of brush strokes in order to get the right affect. I had to do these strokes a few times to make sure that I got the right one for the image. Once I had the look that I wanted I then used a chalk brush and softly blurred out some of the different strokes to make it have a mistier look. Overall I am very pleased with my brush which I can add to my custom collection.

From using my custom made brush I have then went onto experiment with different colours in order to make this image of clouds. I like the feel of the clouds however I think to improve this I need to distinguish the shape of the individual cloud more.
